May is Mental Health Month!
Together: We are partnering with the CA Mental Health Service Authority and RCDC to provide showers, hygiene kits, and new underwear for our neighbors in Central Los Angeles. This annual series of events serves thousands of people across LA County, providing mental health and other services. There will be food, music, wellness activities, haircuts and hiring, pet adoptions, DJ's and more. This family-friendly gathering promises fun & activities for all ages. Come together for a day of well-being, connection, and joy!
Our area will be a place where our guests can feel welcomed, receive hygiene kits & clean underwear, and learn more about Better Angels.
What: Being friendly, ready to serve, and interacting with guests and volunteers are the main requirements!
Why this project matters: Our neighbors will be able to access services that improve their lives.
When we work with fellow volunteers to meet the needs of our neighbors, our entire community benefits.
Wear: Please wear clothes you don't mind getting a bit dirty. Wear closed-toe shoes and leave your jewelry and bags at home. If you've volunteered with us before, feel free to wear your Better Angels T-shirt to show your support! If this is your first time volunteering we will provide you with a T-shirt. Please include your T-shirt size in your profile.
What to bring: Water bottle or your favorite beverage and sunscreen/ sun protection
Age: All people aged 14 and up are welcome. We will have family-friendly activities.
What We Will Do
- Set up our 10x10 space with tables and chairs
- Set up activities, snacks
-Pass out hygiene supplies
-Share volunteer opportunities with attendees
-Share StepFund 0% micro-loan for Angelenos facing eviction, with attendees
