Do you enjoy working outside with positive people?
Are you ready to make a difference in Palms by picking up trash?
Together: The Kellogg Alumni Club of Los Angeles will be cleaning up the roadsides near a large encampment. In just a few hours, your energy and your presence can help create a cleaner, safer environment for our community.
Why this project matters: Having lots of trash around is bad for everyone in our communities - unhoused and housed. When we work with fellow volunteers to meet the urgent needs of people living outside, our entire community benefits.
Wear: Please wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty. If you've volunteered with us before, feel free to wear your Better Angels T-shirt to show your support! If this is your first time volunteering, please complete your waiver on your profile and specify your t-shirt size too.
Tools: We will provide trash bags, tools, and gloves if you need them.
Age: All ages are welcome. Teams with members younger than 14 will participate by writing notes and creating snack bags for people living outside.
What We Will Do
- Join the Better Angel's group in the Culver Palms Church of Christ parking lot. Look for our purple Kellogg shirts and our light blue Better Angels sign.
- Sign in and pick up your Kellogg Cares Day T-shirt
- We'll meet up and chat about our plan to clean up and create snack bags for people living outside.
- Get the tools, gloves, and trash bags you'll need.
- Teams creating snack bags will stay at the church and work on writing notes of encouragement and creating bags.
- Teams picking up trash will drive or walk in small groups to nearby areas to pick up trash, respecting street residents' privacy. We only pick up items that don't belong to anyone.
- After: Return to our meeting spot to wash your hands, enjoy a social event with a meal, connect, and talk about your experience and other volunteer opportunities.
