Westside Better Angels

Who We Are

We are neighbors who are working together to meet urgent needs and create a more livable city.

Transforming our communities will take all of us. Money isn't enough; neither is hoping that someone else will solve issues we all see. When we all come together to do our part, we will tangible difference in our own neighborhoods. Experts. Skilled Labor. Leaders. First Responders. Ambitious Young People. Retirees. College Students.

The Westside needs all of us - and that means we need YOU.

Be an Angel on the Westside!

Together we are:

Meeting urgent needs for local livability

  • Joining trash clean-ups
  • Supporting groups distributing food and connecting people to care, jobs and housing
  • Sharing and creating resources for toilets, storage, and garbage pickup

Preventing homelessness

  • Sharing our 0% interest micro-loan program for neighbors facing eviction (thestepfund.org)
  • Collaborating on local roommate matching

Advocating for a better future

  • Researching and communicating our needs and goals
  • Planning with neighbors for housing we need
  • Supporting city, state and national actions that make sense

What We Do

Easy and fulfilling ways to volunteer locally or at home

There are many ways to get involved. We offer ongoing positions for community leaders, faith community liaisons, high-school engagement leads, resource partnership leads, eviction-prevention loan marketing, researchers and writers.

For those just getting their feet wet (or hands dirty!), you can join in with events when it suits your schedule with no additional training or requirements needed!  For every event, we have opportunities for one-time or short-term roles including event planning, event marketing, social media posting and engagement, event host, event photographer, and event communications. Many events also need a supplies and tools organizer and or a driver.  And every event also needs people to join in the activity from picking up trash, to creating meal bags, or delivering safety instructions.
