Are you ready to make a difference in Harbor City serving our neighbors?
Together: We are partnering with the non-profit, Salvation Army - Stillman Sawyer Family Center to organize and co-host a resource day for the Torrance, Lomita, Carson, Harbor City, and Wilmington communities. We love the work they have been doing to help provide a variety of assistance to individuals and families. These services include the food bank, back-to-school backpacks & supplies, Christmas toys & food, referrals, job search assistance, and A/C & Refrigeration Vocational Training Courses.
Who We Help
We serve individuals and families in the following communities: Torrance, Lomita, Carson, Harbor City, and Wilmington.

What: Being friendly and ready to serve are the main requirements!
Why this project matters: Our unhoused neighbors will be able to access services, alleviate their suffering, and enjoy community! When we work with fellow volunteers to meet the urgent needs of neighbors, our entire city benefits.
Wear: Please wear clothes you don't mind getting a bit dirty. Wear closed-toe shoes and leave your jewelry and bags at home. We will be outside, so wear a hat or sunscreen. If you've volunteered with us before, feel free to wear your Better Angels T-shirt to show your support!
Tools: We will provide all necessary supplies.
Age: All ages are welcome. We will have family-friendly activities. Volunteers younger than 14 serve with their adult.
What We Will Do
Each shift has different roles:
- Set up tables, chairs, crafts, and decor:
- Set up & manage games
- Help organize crafts and art
- Welcome guests - answer questions and assist with connecting to the provided resources
- Take down decorations and decor

- Tables/ chairs set up
- Charging station set up
- Community dining space prep ( Coffee station, water, Lemonade)
- Snack preparation
- Decor set up
- Servers ( Food and Drinks)
- Guest Greeter/Counter ( Greet, direct, and count how many guests are entering the event)
- Hygiene Distributor
- Documentarian ( Photographer of the event while keeping guest dignity as top priority - cover volunteers and the work they are doing)
- Game/Activity Coordinator
- Take down decor, tables, and chairs, pack our supply van.
