Saluting Our Heroes: A Veteran Luncheon is a gathering dedicated to fostering connection, well-being, and gratitude through meaningful activities, great food, and inspiring experiences, for our recently-housed veterans.  

Why Does This Work Matter? 

Your time and energy are essential in creating a welcoming, uplifting experience for our recently housed veterans.  Community support is an important component of thriving in housing.

What You'll Do:  

Volunteers will support all of the activities needed to make this a fun and effective community event

Volunteer roles available by shift:

1. Setup Crew: 9-11:30 AM

2. Meal Servers: 11:30 AM-2 PM

   Entertainers: Musicians, singers, and performers: 11:30 -2 PM 

3. Breakdown Team: 1:30-4 PM 

When you respond, add a note about what you’d like to do, if you’re a performer. Wear your Better Angels T-shirt if you have one, and closed-toe shoes.  If you are open to helping at all with food, wear a hat and pull hair back if it is long. Leave jewelry, watches at home, and don't bring a bag with you if possible to leave elsewhere.

The Global Women's Foundation and Band of Brothers (GWFBOB) organization is helping veterans suffering from homelessness by supporting each of them into community, housing, and jobs. Its mission is to end veteran homelessness and provide holistic rehabilitation through community, wellness, and connection. Since 2021, GWFBOB has put over 51 veterans in homes.   The Echo Bravo Project is the future heart of their work—a transformative initiative to create a Veterans Sanctuary on a 24+ acre site in Simi Valley, California. This site, which has served as our primary retreat location since 2021, offers veterans a place to heal, grow, and thrive.
