Together: We are partnering with our Service Vendor, Assurance Wireless, to organize and set up resource day for The 6th annual 86ers Fight Back for What You Believe In event. What they believe in, to care for our less fortunate & unhoused neighbors. We love the work they have been doing to help provide resources and support for our financially unstable and unhoused neighbors. When we work with fellow volunteers to meet the urgent needs of neighbors, our entire community benefits.
What: Being friendly, ready to set up & take down the event space, and put together hygiene kits will be the main requirements!
Why this project matters: Our unhoused neighbors will be able to access services, receive a meal, haircuts, and
Wear: Please wear clothes you don't mind getting a bit dirty. Wear closed-toe shoes and leave your jewelry and bags at home. If you've volunteered with us before, feel free to wear your Better Angels T-shirt to show your support!
Tools: We will provide all necessary supplies.
Age: All ages are welcome. Children will need to be with their parents if they are under 14 years old.
What We Will Do
Each shift has different roles:
- Set up tables, chairs, crafts, and decor: 9:00 am - 11:00 am
- Hygiene kits assembly: 9:00 am - 11:00 am
- Help organize vendors, arts & crafts: 10 am - 12 pm
- Take down decorations and decor: 4 pm -6 pm

List of volunteer roles: Depending on the time you select, will determine which role you will support day of. Otherwise, a role will be assigned to you along with instructions. Be aware that re-assignment may happen due to limited spacing and/or to meet guest needs and event effectiveness.
- Tables/ chairs set up
- Charging station set up
- Community dining space prep
- Support in vendor table set up
- Decor set up
- Servers ( Food and Drinks)
- Guest Greeter/Counter ( Greet, direct, and count how many guests are entering the building)
- Guest Belonging Attendant ( Making sure guests know where they can leave their items attended and the volunteer will make sure items are not stolen)
- Hygiene Kit Assembly & Distributors
- De-Escalation Leads ( Diffuse tough situations/ confrontations, polite removal of disruptive guests)
- Documentarian ( Photographer of the event while keeping guest dignity as top priority - cover volunteers and the work they are doing)
- Game/Activity Coordinator
