Together: We are providing on-site resources, a warm meal and entertainment for the parents & families the children who attend Crete Academy. Partnering with Crete Academy leadership, we want to bridge the gap and get their families the support they need while attending the resource day. Your presence and volunteering will help create a welcoming, supportive, and safer environment for our South Central community.
Why this project matters: Many of the families we will serve are in tough situations from transitional housing, financial insecurity, facing evictions, or escaping domestic violence situations. Everyone deserves to have their urgent needs met. For this resource day event, we are inviting a specific subset of parents & offering more local & government service vendors for their guests to access at this location. There will be foodbank items, a warm meal, and games for the kids to play while the parents interact with the vendors.
When we work with fellow volunteers to meet the urgent needs of people living outside, our entire community benefits.
Wear: Please wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty. If you've volunteered with us before, feel free to wear your Better Angels T-shirt to show your support!
Tools: We will provide any necessary supplies and tools if you need them.
Age: All ages are welcome. Teams with members younger than 14 will participate with their parent/ guardian. If you are 18+, we have to register you with the school page.
What We Will Do
Serve the community by:
- setting up tables, chairs, canopies and decor
- Put together snack bags from food donated by the local food bank
- Direct guests to the appropriate vendors they are looking for
- Serve a warm meal provided by local restaurant
- Be polite, respectful and kind to all of our guests, partners and vendors
