Do you enjoy working with positive people?
Are you ready to make a difference in Whittier, serving our unhoused neighbors?
Together, we'll provide a warm meal, resources, and entertainment for our unhoused neighbors by partnering with local service vendors. Your presence and volunteering will help create a welcoming, supportive, and safer environment for our community.
Why this project matters: Our unhoused neighbors will get some urgent needs met, which everyone deserves. Operation Healthy Hearts, our area partner, is excited to serve at this new location. The friendly folks at the Whittier LGBTQ drop in center offer weekday access to support, case management, a hang-out space, free clothing, and a shower. But there are more needs in this area, so we are partnering to bring nutritious warm meals or snack bags, immediate health care, county resources, jobs training, identification, and housing navigation. We need volunteers to help us set up, run games and activities, serve a meal, and act as event navigators for guests at this location. When we work with fellow volunteers to meet the urgent needs of people living outside, our entire community benefits.
